I work in banking, and I know what the M stands for. I also know enough to
not use financial jargon in a general public setting.

You've made a common assumption about the error reporting tool that is
incorrect. It is there to gather information so that the most common
problems can be identified and corrected. If there is a fix available, then
the oca tool will let you know there is one. Otherwise, there will be no
response as the issues are not individually attended to.

Further to this, as this is a new machine, you should be exercising your
warranty if there are that many issues. If the issues are with software that
you desire to use with it, they should be addressed with the appropriate
vendor.

As well, XP was far from perfect at its release, and still is.

I spent $2M on a brand new computer with Vista on it and nothing works. I
sent 72 problem reports and e-mails to Microsoft and never got a response.
If
you are even thinking of getting Vista-DON'T, you will be wasting your
money.
Now I have to spend even more money to get Windows XP which works
perfectly
on my old 30 year old computer and a video card so I can download videos
to
my new computer.

This is what happens when you don't understand the limits of BS.

Your computer must be really high in equipment (Hardware) if you spent $2 thousand dollars.

Aside from that when you send those error reporting (oca) to Microsoft most likely you will not get a reply. Nobody does. This is for their own data and information

Maybe if you can post and explain your errors that you are encountering someone can help you to solve it.

Also if you post next time do not use financial signs as it can be miscued by many.

1977 computer? Had to have been a mainframe!

So you got Windows XP working on your computer dated 1977? Incredible! You
must be some kind of genius to get XP working on an Apple II, or your
Comodore PET, probably under your CP-M emulator !!

I think you need to tone down the drugs in your system. You NEVER had XP
working on your 30 year old computer. What really happened was someone took
a screen shot of XP, printed it out on paper, then taped the page to your
monitor.

HA HA - Drug rehab works wonders. You might even get a dose of reality in
the near future.

[...]Windows XP which works perfectly on my old 30 year old computer[...]

You are not here to complain but to insult people's intelligence and common
sense.

And you could ask for mercy by admiting your own careless mistakes, but
instead you insulted more poeple by saying..
Obviously none of you clowns graduated from high school or have ever
worked[...]

So if you spent US$2,000 on a system without first verifying if it could
work as expected and when problem came out don't know how to contact the
vendor for support and/or return, you are an moron.

Nobody makes fun of you - you are embarssing yourself.

Hi everyone,

I think that it would take at least 2 Million dollars to get a 30 year old
computer to run Windows Vista. I hate to admit it but I had a computer 30
years ago and it wouldn't even run DOS.

I think mine was a 4k TRS-80 Model I.

Richard,

I forgive you and thank you. You provided the biggest chuckle of the day.

Hows the old 8080 or Z80 or 8085 or 6502 or 6800 computer doing?

How did you get XP shrunk down to fit in the 65K address space of your PC?

30 year old computer (predates the 8086 by several years) to run XP.

Jim

It must be the Z-80 to 8086/8088 emulator.

This is very good advice. When people supply the fault information provided
in the Problems Reports and Solutions center in their posts here, it's
potentially possible to arrive at the problem and perhaps a solution.

What a lot of rot?

Noting works. Take it back or learn how to use what you buy.

A 30 year old computer has a 30 year old motherboard. Totally unable to run
XP so go tell your fairy tales elsewhere. Your upsetting the serious users.

You're kidding, right? 30 years old? Uh... I don't think the respondants are
dumb... don't think -any- version of Windows, not even 1.01, would run on a
30 year old 'puter.

And we all forgive you for posting about your 30 year old computer. And that
you need a video card to download videos.

Geez louise, buddy, if you'd posted something that made sense, someone might
have actually attempted to assist you but you flew off the handle right away
and started throwing insults around because folks got a chuckle from your
painfully inaccurate description of your problems.
