I am running Windows XP Home Edition and when I try to do
the windows update it tells me "Thank you for your
interest in Microsoft, you must be running a windows based
product". Unable to do the updates even going to the
Microsoft page. Any help with this is appreciated.

Thank you for the response. This is a store bought version
(5.1,Build 2600)and I was able to run the updates after I
initially installed it. However since the that time I have
not been able to get the new updates.

If you are running firewall software then disable it.
Norton Internet Securities is famous for this.
