Windows Updated Compaq Presario 2500

My computer downloaded the recent windows updated and after it did I could
not log onto the computer because it asked for a password and I didn't have a
password to get in. I tried a password recovery from the SAM file and
nothing was fixed. I had to use the compaq recovery CD since that is what
they told me to do blaming the problem on an incorrect application of the
patch. After I did this windows downloaded the patch again, and again this
is happening. I cannot log into my computer because it is putting passwords
that I don't have. I even put a password on my user this time and it resets
it to something else. Is there a hardware problem with the Compaq or
something else. I have severeal other non-Compaq computers that the patch
just uploaded fine to.

The default password is nothing. Try pressing the enter key when the
logon window appears.
