Windows Update

I have Win XP, SP1 installed. Every time I disconnect
from the Internet through a dial up modem account my
system performs two actions.
Firstly it advises me wupdater.exe is active and I have
to click the END TASK option.
Secondly it automatically starts to redial my ISP, I then
have to cancel the attempted connection.

Any ideas anyone??
