windows update & shutdown problems sp2

After installing SP2 my computer will not shut down, goes
as far as windows xp is shutting down & then hangs.
windows update will also not work, hangs when checking
for new updates, have disabled xp firewall & pop ups but
still no good.

reinstall v5 BILTS 2.0, HTTP 5.1 WINXP update, this install new windowsupdate
protocols, also , make sure BILTS is running in "services,,,in administrative
tools" or win update wont work
