Windows Update (Drivers)

V

I have a SoundBlaster PCI 16 sound card by Creative
Technologies. I went to Windows Update on Sept 23rd 2003
and noticed a driver update fpr Creative Technologies.
I thought that I needed this driver update for my sound
card. I downloaded the driver and installed it. It was
the wrong driver for my card and the Midi functio would
no longer work. I reinstalled a driver update at
Creative Technologie's web site to correct all know
problems with Windows XP. This got the midi function and
sounds working. However, when I am doing some recording
the system will shut down and I get a blue screen warning
me to shutdown the PC to avoid damage. When I reboot
Microsft XP sends a n error report. The report says that
it is a Driver conflict. I then try to delete the ES1371
driver that I downloaded from Windows Update. The driver
will then be sent to the recycle bin. But it keeps
reinstalling into the system directory. Could this be a
virus. I have deleted form the recycle bin and then
rebooted, it will still be in the system driver folder.
Please help.
