Windows Update and IE6SP1 quit updating

I have an interesting problem. Maybe someone can help
For some reason Windows Update hangs at 0%
One of the repair options is to do a IE6SP1 repair form "add/remove
programs"
Well here is the second problem.
IE6SP1 is not listed in the add/remove programs list
any suggestions
