Windows tools not working

When I try to start a windows Toool such as The comand prompt, or regedit, or
msconfig and more the windows pops up and then vanishes. Any help would be
appreciated. i am running Wndows xp sp-2

Viruses are known to cause this problem.

I have the full trend micro security suite and spyware suite installed and it
says I have no viruses. i did have a trojan though and cant understand how i
get those with this installed. Do they cause damage and is there any fixes
you know of?

Trojans do cause damage. The only fix I know of is to remove them.

Well all my scans say I dont have anything but the programs like regedit
still wont stay open...
