msconfig and regedit not working properly

hi
when i open regedit or msconfig in run,both opend in notepad with eccrypted
format.I am not able to see msconfig and regedit.
please help me regarding this matter

Is the problem seen for every other .exe file. Try Calc.exe for example?

when i try Calc.exe..
msg is calc.exe is not a reconize command.
i am also try link that sent by u..but it seems to be not working...

Download exefix_xp.com utility and save to Desktop. Double-click the file to
run it. This utility fixes the .exe file association in the registry
automatically.

Additional tip: To run the utility silently (without any prompts), use the
-silent parameter. Open a Command window (Command.com) and type:

C:\Utilities\exefix_xp.com -silent

Assuming that the exefix_xp.com is placed in the C:\Utilities directory.

If the problem is seen only when accessing those three system tools, then I guess there might be some sort of a Virus present in the system. I'd run a through scan.

i scan my system with etrust(ca ), norten symantic and kaspersky with
licence version...
althouh m facing same problem...
is there any solution to solve these bugs.

Try "%windir%\regedit.exe" in Start/Run.

Most viruses create bogus files wich .com extensions such as "regedit.com", "msconfig.com", so that the .com file is launched whenever a user types a file name without mentioning the extension and/or the full path. For example, typing "regedit" in Start/Run would look for regedit.com in the PATH first, rather than "regedit.exe".

If that does not help, perhaps you can post this issue in a security forum such as CastleCops, AumHa or others.
