Windows Time NTP protocol adjust

Hi,

I'm using Windows XP Home SP2.

I've encountered a problem recently: I cannot synchronize my PC time with
the Internet time.

I tried in "Properties" --> Date/Time --> Internet Time tab, but every time
I press "synchronize now" button, I get the report: "An error occured. RPC
server is not available".

What does that mean? I tried both "time.windows.com" and "time.nist.gov"
servers. I'm using firewall, but when I viewed the logs, no traffic has been
blocked.

How can I make my Windows synchronize its time and date with Internet time?

The RPC service is most likely 'Stopped'
Click: start | run and enter: services.msc
Scroll down to the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service.
The Status column show say 'Started' and the Startup column show be
'Automatic'.
If the RPC service is not started (no entry in the Status column) then right
click and select 'Start'.

You should now be able to update your system's time.
