windows stop error

I have recently purchased a Logitech stereo usb headset 250. I have windows
xp home edition v 5.1.2600 with service pack 2 build 2600.

Every time I use the headset I have software failure problems and twice this
has resulted in Windows STOP errors – complete system crashes!

Following the Stop error this evening I recorded all the details:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Usbaudio.sys address A8B22567 base at A8B1C000, datestamp 41107d38

Tech info:

STOP: 0x000000D1 (0XFFF40022, 0X00000002, 0X00000000, 0XA8B22567

When I rebooted the Microsoft Online Crash Analysis told me that error was
caused by an unknown device driver.

When I did a search for Usbaudio.sys there were 10 occurences listed! Can I
delete them all and reinstate? Is there a corrupt file? If so how do I get
rid of it and replace it?

Please help.

Hi,
You have a damaged File/folder on your USB Audio device driver, try this;
Open a RUN Command and type; devmgmt.msc click OK or hit Enter on your
Keyboard.
On device manager look and see your USB for Audio device and se if there is
an X mark or yellow Exclamation Mark there.
Reinstall the Driver or Uninstall and Reboot your Machine will detect the
USB and Install a fresh Driver, you may need your XP CD handy (assuming you
have XP).
HTH.
Please let us know.

Nass, no X mark or yellow Exclamation Mark against the USB audio device so
have not deleted it. Any other suggestions?

Hi AnnGibe,
Try to uninstall the Logitech Stereo from the Add/Remove Programs by open
the Control Panel >> Add/Remove Programs and locate the Logitech Stereo and
Uninstall it.
Go to the Logitech website and download the latest for your Audio stereo
Specs driver.
Reboot windows should detect and prompt you for the Floppy/CD Driver for the
logitech to install, insert the CD/Floppy and click next to install the
Driver for your Stereo.
Run the Command sfc /scannow and press Ok and wait for it to finish.
HTH.
Please let us know your progress.
Regards,
nass

Logitech stereo usb headset 250 did not come with a CD. Was
connected/detected through plug n play. So nothing to uninstall.

Also, Logitech website says driver is part of Windows XP SP2 which I have so
nothing available to download. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall SP2?
