Windows Stop Error Screen

Hello,

I've been experiencing a random problem that is proving
to be quite elusive. My screen goes black, then a blue,
Windows Stop Error Screen pops up with a reason of:

STOP 0x0000007F (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000,
0x00000000). The screen then says to run a diagnostic
utility that was provided by a manufacturer. It also
points to mismatched memory and to change video
adapters. I ran the Microsoft memory test program
numerous times as well as memtest to diagnose the
problem. I had lock-ups with memtest and I replaced my
motherboard and the memtest lockups went away. I thought
that was the problem, but the stop error screen appeared
again tonight. I don't have another video adapter to try
and based on all the memory tests I ran, I'm thinking the
memory is good. I'm at the point of just formatting the
hard drive clean to see if that helps. Any ideas here?
Thanks for you help.

Thanks for the link. My error message doesn't indicate a
kernel trap. The really weird thing is this only happens
while browsing the internet. I game quite a bit and it
never happens during a gaming session. I'm thinking
there is a definite hardware problem, but this error
message says it can be software or hardware related.
Very frustrating while trying to narrow it down.

By chance, do you have norton anti-virus installed?

No, I run PC-cillin anti-virus. It has been installed
for a while and has never caused a problem. The only new
thing on my computer is my Yahoo DSL internet browser. I
also have IE 6.0 installed and the stop error screen
appears when using both browsers. I ran memtest86 again
tonight and it completed 5 cycles with no errors. I'm
leaning toward software now, and after reading your link
again, it looks my error message points to a divide by
zero problem. It mentions locating an Intel x86
reference manual, but a) I don't have one and b) I think
it would be too complicated for me to understand. So,
this general error is pointing to either hardware or
software....arrgh! After this coming weekend, I think I
might just wipe the drive clean and see if that helps.
Thanks again.
