Windows shuts down when removing external device

I am using a Vista 64-bit platform on a desktop. Recently, when I
right-click on the icon to Remove Hardware Safely in order to remove an
external flash drive, it tells me that the device can be safely removed from
the computer, but then the computer immediately goes into a reboot mode.

In the Event Viewer under Custom Views/Administrative Events, I show an Http
event (Event ID = 15016), and WMI error (Event ID = 10).

This just started happening today.

My computer is doing the same thing when I disconnect my iphone. I believe
this just started since the last update that I believe installed on Friday.
Also, how do I open the .dmp file?

Sir Steve --

Refer to my later post concerning the KB973879 Update. This solved my USB
problem. However, it may pertain to 64- bit systems only. Check your
Windows Update history.

Mr. Biggar,
Thanks for the assistance. Removing KB973879 resoved the problem.

Thanks,
Steve
