Windows Service Pack 2 Issue

Asedoe

Hey,

For some reason everytime I install SP2 or SP3 (haven't tried 1 yet, I'm
assuming the same is gonna happen) my computer keeps give me the blue screen
of death on start up. Everything goes fine until the start up (Windows Boot
screen) but then after a while the BSOD comes up with: STOP: 0x0000007B
(0xBACC3524, 0xC0000034, 0x000000000, 0x000000000). This is really annoying.
This never happens on a clean version of Windows (without any Service Packs).

I cannot install my audio drivers etc. without SP2. I also would like to say
that I'm not very good with computers, so could you please explain in detail
what I need to do (if you have a cure for this).

My Specs:
Windows: Windows XP
Memory (RAM): 2048 MB
CPU Info: AMD Athlonâ„¢ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
CPU Speed: 2155.4 MHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-M55PLUS-S3G

Thanks for your help.

Some Common reasons for this could be:
1) This is the most common reason. The Operating System, in this case
Windows XP does not have working a driver for the controller card that is
being used in this system.
2) This can be caused by boot sector viruses. So make sure that the system
is scanned for viruses before starting the SP installation.
3) The volume could be corrupt and is not readable. When trying to read the
volume it is not finding the data on it or the data is illegible.
4) The registry may be corrupted.
5) Drive Translation is being used that is not being understood.

Well, the summary I quoted is vague because what system you have is not
known. You could have an iSCSI interface, be using RAID, IDE or a lot of
other possibilities. Probably, the controller drivers are going to be part
of your 'chipset' drivers included with your system.
SP2 makes many demands on disk access features. (Much similar to the
problems seen in Vista) That list I posted points out what might impact you
in trying to upgrade XP.
