Windows search problems

when i attempt to do a file search with the standard windows xp search for
files and folders option and try to specify a word or phrase, it doesnt
include resultt. that is it doesnt return files that i know for sure that
the phrase exists in. this also means that i am not getting other files that
it may exist in. is there any one else having this error or know a way to
fix it?

thanks

Windows XP search for All files and folders does NOT find all files when you
use a word or phrase

WinXP's search function filters out files to search in based on file
extensions (see further below).

Install the free Agent Ransack, it searches for text strings in *all*
types of files, and not just in a selection of "approved" file extensions
as the built-in search does. It's a *much* better search tool as well...

Agent Ransack can save the search result to a file (or clipboard), as text,
comma separated text or tab separated text. E.g. Excel reads comma separated
text (csv) very well.
