Windows restarting

My computer is acting weird....

I turned it on and when it was loading to Windows, it restarted. Afterwards,
I got a message where I have to choose from five options. Safe mode, Safe
mode with two other options, Last Known Good Configuration, and Start Windows
Normally.

I tried last known good config, but then it didn't even allow Windows to
load and restarted, then I got back to the five options again. I tried start
Windows normally, and it restarted again.

After a while of thinking and panicking, I pressed start Windows normally
again and it worked and now I'm in. Why does this happen?

I have had the exact same problem for the last couple of weeks. I have media
center edition installed on an ACER L200.

Does anyone have a good answer?

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click
on the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties,
Advanced, StartUp and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck
box before Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

There will also be Error Reports in Event Viewer. Please post copies.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&Product=winxp

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report
complete with links into the message. Make sure this is the first paste
after exiting from Event Viewer.

Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties. Hardware,
Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?

Try Start, Run, type "sigverif.exe" without quotes and hit OK. What drivers
are listed as unsigned? Disregard those which are not checked.

Hope this helps.

Ok, the unchecking of Automatically Restart thing worked.... so far.

By unchecking this, am I risking anything? And is there a reason why this
problem occurred in the first place?

Please help.

Unchecking automatic restart has no adverse effects.

Try HD Tune (freeware).
Download and run it and see what it turns up.
http://www.hdtune.com/

Select the Info tabs and place the cursor on C:\ under Drive letter
and then double click the two page icon ( copy to
Clipboard ) and copy into a further message.

Select the Health tab and then double click the two page icon ( copy to
Clipboard ) and copy into a further message.

Also do a full surface scan with HD Tune.

My computer has stopped from doing that restarting to 5 options. But what can
I do so I can turn on Automatically Restart again and it won't restart? Also,
what caused that restarting in the first place?

And what does that Event I posted mean?
