if anyone is interested, here is a web site with the instructions to install
the windows Recovery Console to the hard disk so that you do not need the os
cd to start it up. just so ya know, u need the os CD to install it.

i have no idea if this will install after vista is on the system or not but
this is a usefull utility. this will make it easier to get rid of vista when
you want to uninstall it. i just suggest installing it before vista is on
your pc. i'm suggesting this because a friend of mine put vista on the main
partition of his pc and now he can't get rid of vista. his recovery CDs
won't work with vista installed.

Tell your friend that Vista disables the function key used to start the
recovery during startup and that he should get the fix from his computer's
manufacturer that will renable the function. It's probably F11 and I
wouldn't be surprised if it was Dell.

Sony has the same issue with thier versions of XP-sony support is a joke
IMHO-so I have a spare HD with XP boot to format my sony if needed. It will
load if XP formats the partition.
