Windows Picture Viewer not functioning

Hello,

I have Windows XP with SP2 installed on my laptop. Recently figured out that
the Windows Picture viewer is not opening my images. Any help in resolving
this issue is highly appreciated.

When you double click on a photo file to open it, tell us what happens. Then
we can try to figure out how to get you back to Windows Picture viewer.

When I double click the photo file, nothing gets opened. I just the "error
sound" from the speakers, thats it.

OK.
Look at the file name of the photo. It should have .jpg after the file name,
something like this:
filename.jpg
What do you have for the file name of the photo?
Give us an example of a photo file name you have.

It has *.jpeg and *.bmp. Almost none of the file extension is opening.

These photo files were saved from the Internet?
If so, you may want to check the following site, bottom of the page:

and make the appropriate change.
