windows not start... file missing or corrupt: ntoskrnl.exe

Problem:
Can’t boot windows XP.

Error message:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or
corrupt: <Windows root>system32ntoskrnl.exe.
Please re-install a copy of the above file.

I’ve tried many solutions and they probably would work, but can’t
get pass the access denied message. It doesn’t ask me for
administrator password or give me the option of entering it.

A PROBLEM I’VE TRIED TO FORGET ABOUT FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS, BUT NOW I
WANT MY LAPTOP BACK. (I’ve been using my desktop).

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Brad
