Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 problem

I am trying to set up a new pda/mobile phone to sync to Outlook on a PC
running on Windows Vista. I downloaded and installed WMDC 6.1 per
instructions from Microsoft, but when I try to sync I get the following
results:

Sync Started Sync started with Jo Ellen's Smartphone
Sync Failed Sync failed with Jo Ellen's Smartphone
Sync Error ActiveSync encountered a problem on the desktop.

What am I missing??? Thanks!

Instead of WMDC 6.1 can you just use Sync Center built into Vista?
I use Sync Center with my Pocket PC, running Windows Mobile 2003 SE, and I
sync to Outlook on my Vista PC.

are you useing a touch phone
if you are use the disk that came with your phone and install the software
that is on the disk then upgrade the software to the new one.
I had the same problem.
You have to remove the one you installed first then do the disk one.
I don't know why it is like that but I tried to do the same as you did and
had the same problem.

FYI: After much assistance from three levels of support at Samsung, it was
discovered that there was a problem with my Outlook profile. After creating
a new profile, exporting my .pst from the old profile and importing it to
the new profile (in order to keep all my emails, contacts, etc.), I was able
to sync successfully. Thanks for your suggestions!
