Windows Messenger 5.0 help!

I wasn't particularly keen that the MSN add-in functionality was removed from this build of messenger so I decided to revert back to build 4.7.2009

The problem being that with the original version installed, the MSN server no longer appears to recognise any of my Hotmail passport details (username or password)!! I seem to be locked in to using 5.0 and I don't know what to do!!

I think 4.7 needed an add in in order to access hotmail. did you reinstall
that also?
