Windows media player wont connect to internet

Hello maybe someone can help me. I am new to this whole download music thing.
I downloaded a bunch of music that is now in my windows media player. It will
not play them because it says I am not connected to the internet? Has to
unlock it the first time (I guess)I have cable internet I am online.I have
checked eveything under tools, internet connection. It wants me to set up
dial-up? My computer is wireless not sure if that has anything to do with it?
If you have any advise on what to do I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
