windows media player not working at all

i'm not really sure what happened, but a few weeks ago, the trailers and
videos on some websites stopped working for me. i was just getting red x's,
and i did not intentionally change any settings. this is the only thing that
windows media player is ever used for on my computer. so i tried to open the
media player and i kept getting an error message: "an internal conflict has
occured". i tried re-downloading the media player, and it worked until i
shut down and restarted the computer. it then gave me the same message as
before. i tried reverting to wmp 9, but that's doing the same thing. please
help!

Suggest you do a little cleaning of your puter.
Open IE (Internet Explorer)>Tools>Internet Options
Now delete Cookies, Delete Temp files including offline content.
Then, Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Clean up
Do not delete compressed files. Reboot
