im trying to connect the xbox 360 to windows media connect and it wouldn't
show up...WMC says it couldn't be started...so I view event viewer and it
gives me "The Windows Media Connect Service service depends on the Universal
Plug and Play Device Host service which failed to start because of the
following error: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled
or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " any ideas on why
this won't start? thanks. also when i try and enable folder sharing in WMC it
says it couldn't be started....xp home edition.

Click Start->Run and then type "services.msc"

This launches the Services window. In there, scroll to near the bottom of
the list and double click on Windows Media Connect. In there, click on the
Dependencies tab. In the top box, everything in that list (you may have to
expand it by clicking on the '+' buttons) is another service that must be set
to Startup Type "Automatic" for Windows Media Connect to run. Normally, this
will be:

Universal Plug and Play Device Host
SSDP Discovery Service

Set them all to automatic and start them. Then WMC should run fine.
