I can receive mail and it looks like I am sending mail but messages are not
being received by my contacts. However, I can send to myself or to my gmail
account. I am using mail.btinternet.com(from BT), where the POP3 and SMTP are
the same addresses. I am using authentication on outgoing mail server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated since I am based in Kuwait and my
email is my main line of communication.

Cheers, Mark.

If you can successfully send an email to yourself and to your Gmail account,
then your Windows Mail is doing everything it is supposed to do.

I am surprised that you are able to send via mail.btinternet.com from Kuwait,
because that would normally result in a port 25 block, see
http://www.postcastserver.com/help/Port_25_Blocking.aspx
However, if the port 25 block was a factor, you would get an error message.

Have you tried an alternate (non-port 25) SMTP server, to see if it makes a
difference? Set up your Gmail account in Windows Mail per these
instructions: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=86383
