Windows Mail

Wednesday, I had trouble with Windows Live One, and after getting it
resolved, I can receive but not send emails, with Windows mail-Vista, but can
send them on our other computer that has XP SP2 and Outlook Express. I get
the following error message: The connection to the server has failed. Subject
'', Account: 'carol's mail', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP,
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I have checked my settings for our emails and everything is set how our
internet provider told us to.

Hi Carol,
I'm having the same problem. Comcast is my server too. Have you come up with
a fix?

Microsoft does not respond in this newsgroup, but you will get a
response shortly from one of the several volunteers here.

I have posted a response to Carol, but don't be so sure that your problem
is identical. If you want customized help, copy your error message and
post it here.

Thanks, I will try it.

Try this: change the SMTP port from 25 to 587.
You get to that setting by going to Tools, Accounts, select the account,
Properties, Advanced.

Verify all your settings with Comcast's recommended settings, see
http://www.comcast.net/help/faq/index.jsp?faq=Emailtop17686

Those directions are for Outlook Express, but they will work fine for Windows Mail.
