Windows Mail (Vista) sent folder empties periodically

Windows mail. Just sent a question but did not specify I was talking about
Windows Mail. Where do the sent items go to when they apparantly are
deleted/emptied from folder? Does not appear anti virus software causing the
problem.

Unless *you* do the deleting, nothing in Windows Mail will delete
messages from the Sent Items folder.
Which antivirus are you running?

Thanks for your reply. Using McAfee via Comcast for anti virus. I have since
turned off scanning of outgoing emails. There is a setting for compacting in
Windows Mail via Tools-Advanced-Maintenace that I unclicked. Do not know if
this has any effect on by problem. But I guess my question was whether sent
messages are archived automatically somehow and where does the file go?

Regardless, the messages are gone and the second time this has happened.
Posted simlar question back on May 14 and could not get a resolution then
either.

There is no provision for archiving messages in Windows Mail.

The compaction feature in Windows Mail does nothing with messages.
All it does is remove empty spaces from the database which is the
index to the messages. It should not be turned off, or else database
accesses will become slower and slower.

McAfee tends to corrupt messages even when its email scanning is
turned off.

I noted a topic below mine regarding sending of email. I have windows mail
(vista premium) and also have home office, electing to save a few bucks in
buying office without Outlook and utilize new "Windows Mail" incorporated
with Vista.

The problems caused by McAfee are slow to show up, often taking
months for the people who come here to complain about them. Still
there are about 20 a day who report problems caused by either
Norton or McAfee, depending on which they have, and occasionally
a few who complain about problems caused by a recent version of
Trend, or by some other program.
