Hi, does anyone know why I cannot send from windows mail? I can receive
emails but I cannot send them. It was working just fine, but today I can't
send anything.
I get an error message of:
no, socket error: 10060, error number: 0x800cccoe
I have talked with my internet provider, msn tech support and nothing has
helped.

Complete error message says:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject re: test' Account:
mail.comcast.net server:smtp.comcast.net, Protocol:SMTP, port:25,secure
(SSL): No, Socket Error:10060, Error Number:0x800CCCOE
My internet provider said they do not support windows mail so that didn't
help calling them.
I have been sending mail just fine for months, until yesterday.

You might check if you've followed Comcast's instructions. They were
written for Outlook Express, but should work under Windows Mail if
you avoid the One Click Fix and the HTTP connection method.

Does you connection to that server cross from one internet provider's
equipment to another's before it gets there? If so, such connections to
port 25 are often blocked to cause trouble for spammers.

Have you tried entering your username with no CAPITAL LETTERS,
and both with and without following it with the part of your email
address starting with @?

No, my connection does not cross from one internet providers to another's equipment. The set up is exactly how it should be as far as the servers go, all the t's are crossed and the i's dotted. What I don't understand is how it can be working just fine and then WHAM, it's not.

If they don't support Windows Mail, they probably don't check if
any changes they make affect Windows Mail users.

Well, it is very frustrating to say the least. In order to reply to messages now I have to go to another email address I have at hotmail.

Did you look at the Comcast URL that Robert gave you?
It tells you to use port 587 instead of the port 25 you are using for the
SMTP server. Also make sure "My server requires authentication" is checked.

Yes, we tried that and it still didn't work. The server requires
authentication is checked as well.

Ok, darn it! It worked for a minute, I changed the settings to one but not
all of what you suggested and it worked but I changed them back and now I
don't remember what I did, lol!!

It worked!!! Horray!! I just had two many things checked, forgot to
uncheck one and put the 587 in. Thank you, thank you!!!

I just realized that in your initial post you stated "my internet provider, msn tech support."
If that is correct, why are you using Comcast servers? Mixing providers can cause problems.
