Windows mail mess

We bought our first computer the day Vista came out. We are also older than
you!
We each have our own account and have to enter our own password to get
going.
We have been using the bis.midco.net site to view our mail but this is sooo
slow. A friend showed me windows mail last evening. When I clicked on this
icon while in my account my wifes email came up. She then logged on and
clicked the same icon and no messages came up.

How can I get Windows Mail to come up seperately on each of our accounts?

Do I need to wipe something out and start over? How?

Thanks

Do you each have a different email account?

If you add both email accounts to WM, under one Vista user login account,
then all messages will go into one Inbox.

If you have separate Vista user login accounts, then you can configure WM
under each login, to only access the email account for that user.

I have a similar problem. I did add both accounts to WM under a single user
account...at least I think I did.

Messages to one email are coming in fine; messages to the other are not
appearing at all...or if they are, I can't find them. (I did send test
emails to the 2nd account using a web-based account.)

What am I missing?

Thanks for your help.

You're not older than I am unless you live in Russia. I have a letter from
the President (Jefferson).

Open WM and check to see if you have both accounts...
Tools - Accounts -

Then check each account:
If they are both with the same ISP, then the usernames should be different.
If they are with different ISP's, then the server names should be different.
Tools - Accounts - Properties

Click on Tools, then Accounts, then the account where messages do not
arrive, then Properties. If there's no check mark in the box before
Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing, click on this
box and then Apply. Click on OK and then Close.

Click on Tools, this Options. If there is no check mark in the box
before Send and receive messages at startup, click on this box and then
Apply.

If the accounts are aliases for the same mailbox on the server then the
first one to check will get all the mail on the server. You can tell
Windows Mail to leave a copy by going to Tools | Accounts. Select the
account and click Properties. On the Advanced tab click the box to leave a
copy on the server AND the box to delete after seven days, although you can
change that number. You will want to do this in both Windows User accounts.

Another solution that would probably cost money is to ask your ISP to give
you email addresses that are really separate and not aliases.
