Windows Mail keeps trying to dial out.

I have a friend who just bought a new computer with Vista. We got
everytjing transferred over from OutLook Express,on the old computer, to
Windows Mail, on the new computer. But the computer drys to dial up the
connection everytime they check or send email, despite the fact that
they are already connected. It doesn't drop the connection, it just
tries to dial out. It is annoying and they would like for it to stop.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Open Control Panel, than Internet Options, than Connection, mark never dial,
It will fix this annoying problem.

In Windows Mail, go to Tools, Accounts, select the account, Properties,
Connection, uncheck the box for "Always connect to..."
If you have more than one account, do this for all accounts.
This ensures that Windows Mail will use whatever connection is
used by Internet Explorer.

I have tried all of this and the dial up box will not go away.
My internet exsployer work fine a will connect using my wireless DSL. The
windows mail will not connect.

First, in Internet Explorer, click on Tools, then Internet Options, then
Connections. If there is no dot in the circle before Never dial a
connection,
click on this circle, then Apply. Click on OK.

Then, in Windows Mail, click on Tools, then Options, then Connection.
If there is no check mark in the box before Ask before switching dial-up
connections, click on this box, then Apply. If there if a check mark in the
box before Hang up after sending and receiving, click on this box, then
Apply. Click on Change. If there if no dot in the circle before Never
dial a connection, click on this circle, then Apply. Click on OK, then
OK again.

Restart Windows Mail. If the problem is still there, what if any antivirus
and other security programs do you have? Some of them can interfere
with making the changes.

In addition to the response Robert gave you, try this:
In Windows Mail go to Tools, Accounts, select the account,
Properties, Connection. Notice whether it specifies a dial-up
connection. If so, unselect it, which will then cause WM to use
whatever connection IE uses.

searching the net for a fix, I have exactly the same problem as
described. There is no way I can connect to my wireless for email -
internet fine. If I try it tells me I am allready connected. I've tried
all the fixes suggested. Anyone have anymore luck fixing this since Feb?

hope to hear something

You "tried all the fixes" - great, that helps a lot - what where those
fixes?

Are you on a Broadband/Cable connection, if so:

You should check the connection settings for each of your mail accounts:

Tools menu>accounts>select each account in turn>properties>connection tab,
remove the checkmark from 'always connect using'>apply/OK.

Also in Internet Explorer>tools menu>Internet options>connections tab>ensure
that 'never dial a connection. is selected.

HTH?

"The same problem as described"? How are we supposed to
know what that refers to, or which fixes you have tried?

Try this. Delete that corrupted mail account, restart Windows Mail,
then recreate the account.

Did you try recreating that account, as I suggested yesterday?
