the subject says it all "Windows Mail is unable to use Microsoft
Communities features at this time." i get this eveytime i go to microsoft
Communities.

How do i fix this

You wait till the service is running again. It's been flaky at times and
then it passes and all runs okay.

To turn it off:

Tools | Options | General tab | Uncheck "Use newsgroup rating feature"

That is the least of my worries. ;-)

You're better off using the standard newsgroup interface instead of the
Communities thing.

It is called the CDO interface

standard newsgroup interface

Newsreader like WM or any newsreader apart form CDO.

SO TRUE!! I am so sick of this. If Microsoft wants to rewrite Outlook Express
in Windows Forms and tack on community metadata, more power to them, but to
unleash that with all Windows Vista installations and then not support it is
extremely unprofessional of them.

I see no option in Windows Mail to disable the Communities feature of its
NNTP browsing functionality.

On can easily disable the feature by right clicking the Communities Server
in the folder list and going to Properties.
