Hi, I'm sure a message of this type has come up before but I can't find it. I
keep getting an error message like this when I try to recieve e-mail. Can
anyone help?

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.talktalk.net',
Server: 'mail.talktalk.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I was also getting this;

this one is in a box containing the words "windows security message" please
supply user name and password but whatever I do I keep getting it back?
any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

For user name some servers want the part before the @ and some want the
whole email address.

This problem may be caused by an incompatible antivirus.
Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee
and Norton security programs. Those will need to be
uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

If after uninstalling your antivirus, the problem with Windows
Mail persists, delete that corrupted mail account, restart
Windows Mail, then recreate that account.

I thought this was supposed to be a help site! I hope you don't ever need
help. Because with comments like that you'll get none.

What is your complaint?
Some mail servers want you to put in just the part of your email address
before the @ sign and some want the whole address for the account name.
How is this a nasty comment? If you don't have it the way they want they
probably won't recognize you.
