I have Vista windows, and after the IE8 update I can't open any media player
or PowerPoint files attachment in windows mail. Windows mail is set as
default.
I can save them to my desktop folder and they will open form there?
I don't have Norton or McAfee antivirus, but I do have Kaspersky would that
be a problem? I would appreciateyour help please.

I don't know about the IE8 update specifically, but there are some patches
and stuff that make PPT files not open from Outlook Express. I presume the
same issue would happen in Windows Mail, since it's basically OE for Vista.
:) The workaround is to save the file to your harddrive then open it.

Workaround 3 takes you to a page with links to resolving this on Windows
Mail on Vista.

FWIW, it is a know problem. I had the same problem, I just went back to 7.
Also, because I didn't see anything in 8 that jumped out and caught my
attention as something I really needed.
