Windows mail and Live Mail

Question

Is there any reason why I need both programs on my Laptop, I use windows
live
mail for all my e mails but I still see 'Windows Mail' in my default
programs. I have Live Mail checked as the default e-mail program but there
seems to be a problem with keeping it as the default. every few days I have
to reset my default e mail. Is there a fix for this.

Make sure the default is set where it counts.
The following procedure will rewrite the default protocol
assignments in the registry:
Open the Default Programs applet, then click on "Set program
access and computer defaults." Expand the Custom selection, and
select Windows Mail. Click OK.

Windows Mail can not be uninstalled. Just let it be dormant.

Either uninstall Windows Live Mail or make Windows Live Mail your default
for Mail (and remove access to Windows Mail, if necessary).

Any chance you have Outlook 2003 also installed?
