Windows Live Messenger connection drop out

My friend and I both have WLM 8.0 and our problem is that when trying to have
a video chat that I get a message where I am asked if I want to send an error
report and when I select yes. WLM shuts down and all the icons disappear from
the desktop so I have to go into programs and reopen and reconnect. Having
just a voice conversation is fine. On the other end and that is where I
think the problem is....that if my friend opens anything that pertains to his
logitech Quick Cam Orbit MP, this is even is a conversation without web
cam...he drops out and his computer shuts down and he has to log in again. I
am not that smart with computers and have tried to solve this problem by both
of us checking the audio/video wizard.

Any help with this problem would be appreciated...thank so much in advance.
Operating system XP with service pack 2 on both computers.

This seems ironic that I am replying to my own question. Can you tell me if
there is anyone responding to the questions that are posted by the people
still using XP or is all the focus on the Vista. Sound a little
sarcastic.....my post has been on for 2 days as have others and notice that
there is no response. So much so that I contact Microsoft live via email and
I do expect to wait for a personal response. Thanks to anyone who cares to
respond.

Hello,

I am having the same issue with the same cam. I have romeved and reinstalled
the cam "several" times and have downloaded and updated my drivers from
logitech and nothing helps. Sometimes I get a blue screen and other times the
computer reboots itself with no error screen. I have not been able to fix
this issue yet.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this????
