I use XP Pro. The installer service runs for no reason. I could be
doing anything - tring to open a website, adding a favorite, clicking
on an icon on my desktop. It always tries to install Roxio EZ Media
Creator (which is already installed) and it is difficult to stop. I
have to hit Cancel several times. This happens very frequently and is
quite annoying. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just guessing, is it trying to update to a new version?

I'd start by checking if in Roxio options or preferences or similar, there
is a setting such as 'automatically check for new versions'. If there is,
turn it off. If there isn't, try uninstalling it, and then reinstalling.
