Windows Installer Stalling

I am not able to get software installed that uses the Windows Installer. I
don't get any error codes, the "install" simply doesn't start.

I had to clean up a Symantec uninstall of Sytem Works using Microsoft's
Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (see Article ID 290301), and now I'm stuck
and can't get a McAfee pkg to install.

When I load the CD I get the intro screen, choose the "install" option, then
screen changes to Show "McAfee Application Installer" in the top of the
window, but nothing happens afterwards - when the Windows Installer should
kick in.

I've made sure the service is started and have even changed it to Automatic
from manual. Several restarts have been done, but nothing is happening.

Any ideas?

Thanks Drew. I've been trying to go it and those that follow but am having
difficulties b/c I can't search (empty screen), links that are suppose to be
in the KB's don't link me anywhere (yes, even after I validated), etc. etc.

I'm thinking now that scripting is corrupted. I'm on a different computer
to see what I can find b/c I can't even display help files on the other one.

Hopefully this will help anyone who finds the thread via search.

I resolved the problem by using the Scripten.exe to reinstall Windows Script.
