windows installer runs multi times for anything i do on computer

[PLEASE HELP ME]

Hello, I Have been having an issue with my windows installer running 3
seperate times anytime i open or do anything on my computer!

for example say i open up IE it will show me a windows installer window
saying "preparing to install" b4 it will even open IE, it will do this 3
times n then finally open IE to the page it should show, i've let it finish
its thing as well as hitting "cancel" no matter what i do it trys to install
something(nothing) everytime! for this example i have found if i open IE
Twice i can cancel it the 1st two times, 1st attempt for each IE opened outta
6 after second cancel it will open IE then i can get onto the IE faster but
it will still finish the rest of the attempts for both opened IE's.

It does this for almost anything i open or do on the computer even if i open
a new blank tab and is really gettin very annoying!

I have installer 3.1.4001.5512 on here now and have tryed unistalling n
reinstalling, updating the installer, diff versions of installer but nothing
works! I have been looking everywhere for sometime now to find out what to do
with NO LUCK at All!

PLEASE can anyone help?!? if you need any more specs on my system or more
info just reply and I will find out the info that u may need

YES! Thank You, I have had that issue for years now and it's finally gone!!!
=)

What I did was follow the list U put up in order from top to bottom, nothing
was helping! I updated from v 3.1 to 4.5 and then it actually got a lil worse
when i got to the installer clean up utillity I read the read me file and it
said something in there about things like office can cause an issue if it's
install was interupted(not sure if it ever was but I don't use it so let's
try)...Soooo I removed nothin more than the microsoft office 2003 file,
restarted and BING No More stupid installer ghosts!!!!! YAY Hopefully this
whole post will help others with the same issue!
