Windows installer problem

Warren

When I reboot the windows installer attempts to install a program. The only
way that I can get it off the desktop is to ctrl alt del and end task. It is
still attempting to install in the background. If I try to install a program
I get Error 1500. "You must finish current install first". I tried to
install Windows Clean Up Utility, but I get the same message. Can somebody
tell me(in detail, I am not a techy) how to install manually? I am lost.
Thanks. I am of course open to another solution.

Start > Run: eventvwr
Check the messages for information about what application is being installed.

Sorry, but I did not see any information there about what windows installer
was trying to install. When the installer come up at reboot it says what
program it is trying to install. I tried to uninstall it , but I get the
error 1500 notice.

There seem to be a lot of those questions in
the MSI group. It seems that the Windows
Installer system can get somehow corrupted by
an unfinished install. If I remember correctly, the
solution was to run a repair on the last program
that you installed before the problem started.
If that answer doesn't help you, you might
also try asking in:

microsoft.public.platformsdk.msi

Well, since you do not provide the information about the program and why
you did not allow the complete installation, see if this article helps:

"Q107731: ERRDOC: Windows Installer Error 1500"
http://knowledge.macrovision.com/se...o?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=Q107731

See Resolution B. and C. - good luck.

The installation will not go to completion. It freezes and I have to go to
end task. It does not stop it though as I can no longer install or
uninstall. I get error 1500. Thanks.
