Windows Installer problem

Hi all,
When I login to my win2K pro, the Window Installer window
popup with the message "prepare to install".

When I open my Outlook, MS-Word, Acrobat reader...etc., I
get this message "This application must be installed to
run, Please run the setup from the original install
location.." When I hit OK, the apps closed.

I have installed SP4, tried to reisntalled Windows
installer but it said already exist, nothing worked. Note
that the windows installer service is started up ok.

Mike,

This sounds like an application based error not a windows
installer problem as such.

Check the event viewer application log and look for a
windows installer event log.

I would expect you having issues with healing an
application.

Particularly you mentioned Office which I suspect you
installed from a CD and in the case of office thats not a
particularly great idea. Due to office constantly
requiring connectivity to that CD for individual users.

If you need more detail just let me know but the event log
will tell you at least which application is triggering the
healing process.
