Windows Installer problem after update

My friend recently did some Windows XP updates and when his computer rebooted
2 boxes appeared on the screen. The first has a Windows Installer header and
says: Preparing to install. The other has a Microsoft Money 2002 header and
says: Setup needs to close Microsoft Money Express 2002 and is unable to do
so. Please close Microsoft Money Express 2002 and click Retry. If you're
not sure how to close Microsoft Money Express 2002 consult help. He has
never used Microsoft Money although it came installed on his computer. The
computer does not show Money to be a running program. These boxes appear
everytime the system is restarted now and take about 5 minutes to get them to
where they can be closed out. Anyone have any suggestions how to get rid of
these?

Go to run, type:services.msc In msc scroll down to installer, double click on
it,in properties,start the service,then set to auto from manual-mode,close
out restart computer.

KJ,

If you have the setup CD for Microsoft Money 2002, try this:

Download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility and run it. Select Microsoft Money from the installed products list and remove the Windows Installer information for Money. This should fix the current problem. In case you want to use Microsoft Money later, install it again from the setup CD.
