Windows Installer Pop ups

Everytime I navigate using IE and trying to open other link or applications
a pop up windows comes out saying: "Windows Installer. Preparing to Install"
then it keeps blinking for a few seconds and allows the aplication running
normally but when a link is hit it appearas again and again until the process
is done. Frequently it doesn't allow another link to open at all, like for ex
pictures , PDF files (keeps blinking constantly) which makes me real upset.
This problem doesn't happens with anothe browser like "Advanta" wich works
smooth and easy
This problem also occurs with some of my regular programs installed .
When I'm idle I can see the "sand clock" next to the arrow of my mouse
blinking as well as the yellow light of my computer under the on/off botton.
Is like something behind is keeping working constantly.
Thanks in advance for any positive recommendation.

Windows Installer start every time I start XP. If you have SpywareGuard
installed, disable it and try again.

Added info:

"Every time I launch my application, Windows Installer performs an
installation. How can I determine the cause of the on-demand installation?"
