Explorer has been working fine for years, but suddenly, when I open files
with tiffs, and other large images, the computer locks up, or is very slow
at loading. jpgs are fine any thoughts?

there are too many possibilities
and
there is insufficient information from you.

i suggest before we even take a shot in
the dark, you should use a program
called systemmechanic or a similar one.

one "all" the options/features then we can
talk, that is if you still have issues.....

All of a sudden, my explorer using the thumbnail section is
showing the wrong picture for the file name. One photograph
will show up for two different file names. Does anyone else
see this happening in the XP system?

You've been using explorer far to long, u see what happens is with explorer it firstly downloads the whole image or images before it makes them available for you to view, try using mozilla firefox you can view them while they are downloading

I am using Firefox as Netscape is not worth it anymore. I found out what was
the problem. I was talking about Windows Explorer and when I went into it to
the Tools area at the top of W Explorer and into the folder options area and
then to the View screen, you check the "Do Not Cache Thumbnails" box and
that fixes it. I have written this on a paper and have it on the wall in
front of
me because it happens every once in a while. Thank you for the assistance
and now I know where to go to share and get help.
