Windows Explorer slow to open

When I browse my files on one of my hard drives it is slow to display the
contents of the drive(about 30 seconds). The drive has been defragged and is
in a healthy state. Any ideas why the slowdown? xp pro sp2

scan your system with latest virus definitioned antivirus,spybot,search
and destroy,CWShredder as well as adaware.Run all the latest versions in
safe mode.
