I have a small niggle with Explorer. When it opens, the My Documents folder
is selected and expanded. Is there anyway to have explorer open with My
Computer selected?

I cant quite remember, but am sure this didnt happen on our old NT system.....

Cheers,
Steve.

Thanks for the reply.

That has answered my question (I have had to create a shortcut). But how do
I get My Computer to be the default Folder?

Cheers,
Steve.

The fixes here apply only to the shortcuts to Explorer. Is there a
registry setting that can modify explorer.exe's default location? When
I click Start>Run, and then enter explorer (My usual way, since I
really hate navigating the start menu for items I use all the time), it
opens to My Documents. If there is a registry setting to change this,
I would be very greatful if someone would add it to this thread.

Thanks!

a setting somewhere that will allow me to edit this?

What shortcut, where is it located?

What is the text in the Target box that's grayed out?

Create a new shortcut...
Right click Desktop | Point to New | Click Shortcut |
Paste the following line in the Location box:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

Click the Next button | Rename it if you so desire | Drag the shortcut
wherever you want it

You can Rename the shortcut at any time:
Right click shortcut | Properties | General tab |
Change the text in the box

Or just right click the shortcut and select Rename.

I noticed this, but it was the desktop 'shortcut' which is created by
installing IE. Try creating a new shortcut (to the desktop icon), then enter
the value in the target box.

Try using Windows Explorer shortcut NOT Internet Explorer.
