Windows Explorer Runs at Startup

W

Hi, everyone.

I recently installed XP on my home PC. Every time it starts up it
automatically brings up Windows Explorer pointing to the WINNT\System32
subdirectory. I've looked around to find what makes the application
execute, but I can't find a shortcut to it in Startup in the Programs
menu. I also tried poking about with Advanced Startup Manager, but it
also comes up empty handed. My thanks to anyone who can help.

Hi Whitesmith,

I like to tell you that the windows xp does not contain the
WINNT\Sytem32 and this must be a folder of your previous operating
system which can be windows 2000 or anyother previous operating system
from which you had upgraded.

So Go to C: drive and then try to delete the folder WINNT completely (
IF you dont have a dual operating system which means two operating
system in a single hard disk and if you have two operating system plz
dont delete it).

Even if this is not going to work then you may have to Go To: Start ->
Run -> type in MSCONFIG. then press enter.

You will get a system configuration Utility window. In which there will
be several tabs.

Go to the Startup tab and then try to click on the Disable all Button
and then click on Apply and then click on close. and restart the
computer and see whether you get this message at the startup.

If this is going to solve the problem plz do let me know about this to
my e-mail id: (e-mail address removed)

Thanks and Regards
Anish

Or, it can be the Windows folder from the current XP install. You can
change the name during install.

Or if your current XP install is actually residing in that folder..

Best to check exactly where Windows is running from.
