Windows Explorer problem

HELP! I've done something wrong apparently. Everything was working fine
until I wanted to delete a program from Control Panel - Add/Remove and I
highlighted the wrong thing - I accidentally deleted/removed something that I
barely caught sight of - something like...news.net or something. I have NO
idea what I removed. I just feel dumb. The only thing I have noticed that
is NOW happening on my computer is this: when I click on Start, Windows
Explorer, My Computer.....then I get a little flashlight icon on the right
side of my monitor that goes on and on and on and on and finally will open up
to show me my files on the left hand side of my monitor. WHAT DID I DO AND
HOW CAN I FIX IT? Thank you for any help.
