Windows Explorer freeze on rename, delete, etc.

Whenever I am in Windows Explorer and I try to rename or delete a file, I can
modify the file name but when I hit return the Explorer freezes up. When I
try to delete, it says "calculating time remaining" but that never goes away.
If I try a Search, again the Explorer freezes up.

I have to go into the Task Manager and cancel the Explorer window every
single time. The changes are made, but the process is tedious.

Anyone with the same problem or suggestions on how to correct?

Are you doing your renaming and deleting from the right-click context menu?
If yes, this problem is usually caused by ill-behaved third-party programs
that shove themselves into the context menu. The free ShellExView program
makes it easy to manage them. Here are some useful links (it doesn't matter
that XP is referenced).

Hi, I'm getting this exact same problem (no really, EXACT), and I'm not sure
how to fix it. 3rd party components can help me to delete files (I've used
unlocker) but I can't rename or move files still (I'm assuming the delete
problem is actually based on the moving problem, since deleting is just
moving to the recycling bin). I'd like to know of a way to fix it without 3rd
party tools. Thank you.
