Windows Explorer Does not refrech CD/DVD Labels

I don't know why, but now when ever I insert a new CD or DVD, windows
explorer does not display the Volume label. It used to auto refresh
every time a new CD/DVD was inserted. But now.....nothing. I can access
the files no problem, but I can't figure out why it's not auto
refreshing. Even manually refreshing does nothing.

Has anyone else had or have this problem?

I have exactly the same problem and i have no clue
what i can do to solve it. Tried registry editing
autoplay to be forced to on and turned off folder
view (theres a KB article about it) but thats a pathetic
solution because it doesnt help at all.
It happens with all CD drives, writers and Virtual drives
i have.

Well, me too. It's creating problems for me when I install multi-CD games
and programs. I can't install the Doom 3 game I got as a present since it
has 3 CD's! This is ridiculous!

I had the same problem installing doom 3, I have noticed that XP will
refresh after a reboot. You can install doom3 though. At least this worked for
me. After the first cd is done installing, change cd's then reboot.
Installation should pick up where it left off. And the same for disk 3.
cool game too.
as far as the auto refresh I am clueless also.

I had this witn Windows XP and XP SP1. However, now that I have SP2
installed, all seems to be fixed. I do not know why?
