Windows Explorer Browse Window Problem

Hello I have a problem with my browse window. If, for example, I am
doing a search on computer using the windows "Search fo Files or
Folders Feature" and then proceed to browse to the folder I would like
to search, then the icons in that "browse window" display properly;
however, whenever I try to call up the "browse window" in any other
programme wheather it is ACDSee, Picasa, Nero, winamp - or any
non-windows (not made by microsoft) programme for that matter - the
icons in that "browse window" do not display whatsoever. In other
words, if i click on the explorer and look at the side bar
"tree-diargram list" of all my folders, I see all the icons properly;
however, when I try to, for example, burn an audio cd in nero and I
click browse for audio files, that browse window won't contain and
folder icons and would rather have just folder/file names, and even
when I click on "thumbnail" or "icon" view i get a blank space for
where the icon should go and just a folder name under it :S Also, is
there any way to attach an image to this question? I think that would
be rather helpful in understanding what problem I am experiencing.

Thanks in advance.
